THE PLASTIC IN THE WORLD

The plastic is the material more used in la world, nobody can deny tha the plastic has flooded our world.

"Either we divorce plastic, or we forget the planet." This is how blunt the United Nations Organization (UNU) is facing the current plastic pollution in the world.

According the  ONU the total of the plastic produce since 1950 is of 8.300 millon of tons cubic.
Only Only 9% of this amount has been recycled; 91% have ended up in water sources or in landfills.

Meanwhile, it is estimated that ocean plastic kills millions of marine animals every year. It is known that almost 700 species, including those in danger of extinction, have been affected. Some suffer visible damage: strangled by abandoned fishing nets or rings of six discarded packages.

The mountains of waste do not stop accumulating, especially in Asian countries with high growth rates, such as Indonesia. For millennia, people used biodegradable products for packaging, such as banana leaves. Until the plastic appeared. And with him, garbage. There are hardly any regulatory laws in this regard, and not to mention private companies that worry about recycling garbage. Often, all plastic ends up in rivers or simply buried.

Increase awareness, change behavior, exert pressure Substantial changes will only be achieved if constant and public pressure is exerted. Decades ago, the use of DDT, a highly toxic pesticide, was banned, only after people realized the danger it represented and began demanding the ban. Similarly, many civil society activists around the world are pressing governments to do something against global pollution. Of all the environmental problems, pollution by plastic waste is perhaps the most notorious: bottles, bags and all other plastic objects are visible and tangible in all parts of the world. This omnipresence of plastic waste is precisely one of the main reasons why the problem is now in the focus of interest. Now came the opportunity to take advantage of that interest. But that depends on us, on each one of us.

  2. This is our reality, we are the cause of our own extinction. It is surprising how plastic is now an indispensable matter for us, and that we have it available to everyone .. but
